Plymouth Parkway are delighted to confirm the signing of Henry Donovan, with the 20-year-old striker joining the club on a contract basis.

Donovan has been in and around the Parkway squad since pre-season, training regularly with the group and becoming familiar with the squad and management team.

The striker was dual registered with Plymouth Parkway and Saltash United, with Saltash his first club this season. He made an impressive start to the campaign, scoring nine goals in 11 appearances.

An opportunity has now arisen for Donovan to join Parkway on a contracted basis, with Henry choosing to take the next step in his career at Bolitho Park.

A product of the Plymouth Argyle Academy, Donovan progressed through the club’s youth system before taking up a football scholarship at the University of West Alabama in the United States.

He also spent a period playing in Australia with Green Gully before returning to the South West.

Manager Karl Curtis said:

“Henry’s player profile is exactly what we have been looking for. With the departure of Taylor Scarff to Torquay, it has given us the resources to be in a position to offer Henry a full-time place in our squad.

“The management team are delighted, and I know the players are equally pleased to have Henry with us now on a full-time basis.”

Speaking to Parkway TV, Donovan explained why Parkway was the right next step for him.

“One of the reasons is Karl. I think the way that Karl plays is excellent. I played under him at Plymouth in the academy system.

“From the outside in, you can see the club’s trajectory is definitely on the up, and I just want to be part of that.”

Donovan also highlighted the competition for places within the Parkway squad and the standards that come with wearing the Parkway shirt.

“Competition is only healthy for the club. You have to be on your game if you’re going to wear the Parkway shirt.”

Having spent the opening weeks of the season around the Parkway group, Donovan is now ready to begin the next chapter of his career as a contracted Parkway player.
