A sombre day for Parkway as Al Horswell loses battle after long illness

On behalf of Plymouth Parkway…

Plymouth Parkway are very sad to announce the death of Alan Horswell after a long illness. Affectionately known as Al – passed away yesterday evening and a message from the supporters club at Plymouth Parkway will give an indication of what Al gave, and meant to Bolitho Park and Plymouth Parkway.

Its extremely sad for me to report that Alan Horswell passed away yesterday evening, with his family around him,

Alan was one of the original ‘cast’ of Plymouth Parkway Football club and had been one of its keenest followers for some 30 years. He was involved heavily with the development of Bolitho Park, he and Charlie Baggott worked tirelessly together from 2004 and Alan used to say he was Charlies apprentice.

He once went something like ten years following the club and not missing a home or away match, the article re that was in the Sunday Independent. His son Darren was a left back for the club (the best).

There will be a lot more written about Alan, but at this moment in time all our thoughts are with his wife Eleanor and all his family.

Details of service and wake will be published when available.

RIP Alan
