After an opening day defeat at Bolitho Park, Parkway hit the road on Tuesday afternoon for a Southern Premier League South clash against Gloucester City.

Despite the loss, Chris McPhee’s first league game in charge showed promising signs, especially the first half where Parkway were dominant and unlucky not to be more than one goal ahead against a strong Basingstoke Town side. The visitors scored against the run of play and never looked back, adding two more goals in the second half to secure the win.

The next challenge for the squad is a trip to the Tigerturf Stadium to face last season’s relegated National North side, Gloucester City. Mike Cook’s team will be eager to bounce back immediately, and they showed their fighting spirit on the opening day. Three goals down away to Taunton Town, the Tigers rallied with goals from Harry Burns and a Joseph Hanks double to earn an opening day point.

Parkway are well aware of the task ahead, especially for their first midweek away fixture. However, the Yellows project is gaining momentum, and Macca and his squad will travel to Gloucester full of confidence. 

Head-To-Head
The two sides didn’t meet last season. Our last encounter with Gloucester was in the 2018 FA Cup qualifying rounds, with the Tigers winning 3-1.
