Return Of The Smith

Jake Smith signs for Parkway

By Jack Hobbs

We are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Jake Smith from Helston Athletic.

The 20-year-old joins The Yellows off the back of a strong season with The Blues: goals, assists and appearances.

As seems to be the theme this summer, Smith started out at Parkway in his youth and has made the return to Bolitho Park for the 2025/26 season.

Speaking on his return, Smith said: “I’m delighted to be here. When the opportunity came up, I didn’t really hesitate to sign. I’m looking forward to the season starting.

“I was here when I was a bit younger, so I know all about the set up and what the club’s ambitions are moving forward. I’ve worked with Macca previously at Exeter City so I know what he’s about as well as a coach and I feel that aligns with me as a player as well.

“It’s always been my ambition to come back to Parkway one day. I went away for a few years playing regular men’s football at Torpoint and Helston and to be back here is a privilege.”

“We are delighted to have brought Jacob back to the club”, said Parkway manager Chris McPhee.

“Jacob was here at U18s level and has come through the Exeter City academy. I have worked with him before and he is still an exceptionally hard working player with a hunger to learn and improve.

“He has a football brain and can execute specific roles within the game, he was always able to recognise problems as well as solutions.

“Jake has played plenty of men’s football over the past few years and we hope stepping up to our level will not only challenge Jacob further but provide him with an environment to excel further and take his game and level of performance to new heights.

“We are looking forward to working with Jacob again and helping him grow as a player and as a young man.”

Adding to McPhee’s comments, Club Chairman Mark Russell said: “I am pleased we have secured the signing of Jacob to Parkway.”

“Jake was at the club a couple of years ago and made a few appearances for the first team as well as a pivotal role in our U18s. He has gone away and gained some very valuable experience in men’s football.

“I look forward to seeming Jacob continue to develop under the guidance of Chris and Lee.”

Everyone at Parkway would like to welcome Jake to the club and we look forward to seeing his progress over the coming season.
