Jenson Is A Yellow

By Jack Hobbs

We are delighted to announce the signing of versatile defender Jensen Ireland.

The 18-year-old joins Parkway following his release from Plymouth Argyle’s academy, having scored four goals and registered six assists across his recent two-year scholarship.

Joining The Green’s youth set up at the age of seven and remaining in the academy up until u18s level, Ireland will now have his first taste of senior football in the Southern League Premier Division South.

Speaking on joining The Yellows, Ireland said: “I’m really happy to be here and I can’t wait to get started with the boys.”

“I’m a local boy who’s grown up in Plymouth, so I’ve come to a lot of games. I feel like the fans love the club, the players and the staff – it means everything to them.

“When speaking to Mark and Macca, I think their ambitions for the season really align with mine as a person and a player, so I’m really happy to have pushed this over the line.”

Parkway manager Chris McPhee said: “It’s fantastic to bring Jenson to Parkway.”

“Despite his age, he is a player with a mature attitude and mindset. He has had a great education at Plymouth Argyle and was very unfortunate not to be offered a pro contract.

“We believe that Jenson has the skill set and mental approach to adapt to the men’s game pretty quickly and we also believe he is a player with huge potential.

“He is hard working, super competitive, brave, and determined. I have no doubt he will want to knuckle down and work hard to ensure he is selectable and improving within our structure.

“After speaking to Jenson about his passion for football and sharing our vision as a football club, a lot of things aligned, and we are really looking forward to working with him.”

Club Chairman, Mark Russell added: “Jensen is a high-quality young player who has spent his youth years with Argyle.”

“When we heard he was being released, we made swift contact with him to try and bring him to the club.

“I am looking forward to seeing Jensen continue his progression with Parkway under the leadership of Macca and Peaks.”

Everyone at Plymouth Parkway would like to welcome Jensen to the club, and we look forward to watching his progression over the coming season.
