Parkway Welcome Homegrown Talent Joel Sullivan
New SigningBy Mike Parrish
“It’s kind of full circle for me. I was here as an eight-year-old in the Parkway youth system and I am delighted to be back to continue the Parkway journey.”
Those were the words of Joel Sullivan after becoming Karl Curtis’ second new signing of the summer.
The talented defender arrives at Bolitho Park with an impressive footballing pedigree, having spent a number of years within Plymouth Argyle’s academy system where he captained the side to league and cup success against some of the country’s leading youth teams.
Still only 19 years old, Sullivan is regarded by many within the game as a player capable of playing at a much higher level, and Parkway supporters will now get the opportunity to see his potential first-hand.
A serious injury temporarily halted his progress, but after returning to action last season with spells at Bath City and Mousehole, the defender is now fully fit and ready for a fresh challenge in yellow.
Speaking after completing the move, Sullivan said:
“It’s kind of full circle for me. I was here as an eight-year-old in the Parkway youth system and I am delighted to be back to continue the Parkway journey.”
Manager Karl Curtis believes the club have secured a player with an extremely bright future.
“Joel Sullivan will prove to be an excellent addition for our club.
“I’ve known and worked with Joel through Plymouth Argyle Academy and I know he has all the attributes to become an outstanding player for us.
“One of Joel’s biggest strengths is his attitude towards defending. He embraces defending, whereas in the modern game many players prioritise other aspects before their ability to defend.
“In my opinion, Joel has all the qualities to become a future Plymouth Parkway captain.”
The move will also see Sullivan reunited with cousin Will Sullivan, who enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in yellow last season, while the defender already knows several members of the current squad.
With Hayden Turner already through the door and further additions still to come, preparations for the 2026/27 season continue to gather momentum at Bolitho Park.
