Max Edgecombe is a YellowBy Jack Hobbs
We are delighted to announce the signing of young defender Max Edgecombe following his departure from Exeter City’s academy.
After 10 years in The Grecians youth set up, the 19-year-old left back is now ready for his first move in senior football.
Speaking on signing for The Yellows, Edgecombe said: “I’m really happy to be here. It’s taken a while to get this (move) done, but I’m delighted it’s over the line.”
“I’ve known Macca for about ten years now. He coached me at Exeter for a long time, so I think that definitely helped a lot, and some of the Exeter lads who have been here have had nothing bad to say about the club – it was a no brainer.”
Parkway manager, Chris McPhee, said: “We are delighted to bring Max to Parkway.”
“Max is someone I have known and worked with since he was 8 years old. In those 11 years, I have seen him mature into a well-rounded young man with the mentality that not many young players have at this age.
“He has experienced a lot in the game already, even though he is only 19, and it has moulded him into a very driven young man.
“Max is a very talented and committed player. He is left sided but can play in a variety of positions. His energy and physicality allow him to impact the game in all three thirds of the pitch.
“He loves defending and delivering the ball and he has a great left foot and a change of pace.
“Max has the right character and mindset to fit seamlessly into our squad and I know he will be a player that will want to make a positive and immediate impact. He has huge potential and he is desperate to work hard and give his all day in day out for the team with the view to improving each day too.
“We welcome Max to the club and look forward to working with him in the months ahead.”
Adding to McPhee’s praises, Club Chairman, Mark Russell, said: “Max is another great product of the Exeter City academy and who got experience of playing in men’s football last season.”
“I am looking forward to seeing Max continue to improve over the coming months and years.”
Everyone at Plymouth Parkway would like to welcome Max to the club, and we look forward to seeing bomb down the left touchline at Bolitho Park very soon!
