Parkway back after a short break
Gosport Borough v Parkway | Match PreviewBy Lewis Retallick
Gosport Borough vs Plymouth Parkway
Southern Premier League South
Privett Park
Saturday 30th November
3pm Kick-off
Parkway will be returning to league action this week as they face Gosport Borough away at The AEI stadium on Match day 17 of the Southern Premier League South. Parkway had a two week rest due to a wave of torrential rain hitting the city, and after the Boro had to call off Wednesday evening’s game against Bracknell Town due to floodlight failure, they themselves will be suitably refreshed ahead of Saturday!
The Yellows are in decent form with only one defeat in their last five games, and that was against Merthyr Town where it ended 4-2 and their most recent game was against Swindon Supermarine which finished 2-2. That match was a great watch, and it saw Plymouth fight until the very end to pick up a crucial away point in their battle to get to safety. Parkway currently sit 20th in the league and are three points away from the safe zone, and their next game certainly won’t be a walk in the park as it’s up against an in-form Boro.
The opposition – Gosport Borough – have also been putting in good performances and they’ve only lost one in their last five, which was a surprising 1-0 defeat to Marlow FC who sit 21st in the league. They faced Chertsey Town on the weekend, and it was a victory for The Boro where it finished 2-0 with a double from Asher Yearwood. They sit 14th in the table, but a win here would see them go as far up as 9th place, so they will have some serious attacking intent on Saturday.
The last four meetings between these two clubs have resulted in two wins for Gosport Borough, one draw, and one win for the Yellows, so I am sure Parkway will be looking to make a statement in this game.
Parkway’s long term injury woes continue and assessments will be made on Taylor Scarff, Alex Cairo, Matt Wright, Ryan Brett, and Frankie Monk ahead of travelling with the squad.
Each week has felt like they have been inching ever closer to getting out of relegation. Will this match day aid this target?
