With an eventful pre-season in the rear-view mirror, Plymouth Parkway finally kick off their second campaign in the Southern League Premier South Division this Saturday away against Hungerford Town.

Parkway’s pre-season ended with a dramatic 1-1 draw against higher league opposition Yeovil Town, with young prospect Dylan Jones scoring a last gasp equaliser. The 18-year-old could be one to watch this season.

Speaking to manager Lee Hobbs before the big kick off, Lee Shares “Well as a new season draws upon us it’s time to reflect on our summer recruitment & our Pre Season so far. I’m relatively happy with how our summer recruitment has gone. All the lads seem to have settled in well enough and are understanding the demands & expectations that come with playing for me & Plymouth Parkway. We’re fully aware there’s areas that need strengthening and I’m working on that every single day, there’s money there for the right player, but it has to be the right player who can do what we’re looking for so that’s a work in progress, but I promise you I’m working hard on it.

After finishing 10th in their debut season in the Southern League Premier, there is plenty of optimism around the club that the Yellows can achieve even more this time around. They proved time and time again that they could compete with the best teams in the league, and with new additions to the squad, the potential goal could be the play-offs.

Reflecting on pre-season, Lee adds “As for the pre-season programme minus that torrid night up the road at Tavistock, in my opinion it’s been good with us drawing against two quality national south teams & holding our neighbours Plymouth Argyle to a respectable 0-2 defeat and winning comfortably at Willand & Falmouth. We picked up some injuries in PS and hopefully those players aren’t too far away from returning. We now look forward to Hungerford on Saturday and hopefully we get a positive result before we’re back at Bolitho next Saturday to welcome Gosport and hopefully send the yellow army home happy by getting the 3 points.

The match also holds historical significance as the first-ever league meeting between the two sides. The two sides have met in the FA Vase, as Hungerford produced a 1-0 victory at Bolitho. Fans can look forward to witnessing an intense battle on the pitch, with both teams eager to secure a positive start to their respective campaigns.

For those planning to attend the game, Hungerford Town has provided ticket information as well as an online offer that includes admission, food, drink, and a matchday programme. The fastest route for fans traveling to the match is approximately 2 hours and 47 minutes via the M5.
