Rocky Returns

Rocky Neal Is A Yellow

By Jack Hobbs

Plymouth Parkway are thrilled to announce the signing of striker Andrew ‘Rocky’ Neal following his departure from National League South champions Truro City.

Neal, known more commonly by his nickname Rocky, brings a wealth of experience to Parkway’s offence, having scored 79 goals in 244 appearances for the Cornish side, including the goal which secured Truro’s promotion into the National League this season.

The 31-year-old now returns to Bolitho Park, having been a Parkway player almost ten years ago.

Speaking on his return to the Theatre of Trees, Rocky said: “I’m really happy to be here.”

“It’s been a long time coming so it’s nice to finally get it done!

“I’m a local lad and live five minutes away, so I think it was always highly likely that at some point I was going to end up back here.

“With Truro going fulltime I just couldn’t commit to the schedule, so I spoke with Macca and Mark, and I think Parkway was always going to be where I ended up.

“I try and work as hard as I can for the team. I’ll give everything and try to score as many goals as possible.”

Manager Chris McPhee added: “Everyone at the club is delighted to welcome Rocky.”

“As soon as we heard he was available we got in touch. He is someone who we enquired about getting on loan last season when we saw he wasn’t getting much game time, however it didn’t materialise.

“Rocky is well-known amongst the experienced players in our squad and as soon as I got talking to Rocky, I knew he was the right character as well as the right profile of player to strengthen the group.

“His attitude towards his season at Truro last year speak volumes about the type of person he is, despite not featuring as much as he would have liked and perhaps everyone would have expected, he stayed fit and focused, ready for his contribution.

“Scoring Truro’s last goal in the National League South shows that we are signing a player with an eye for goal, a great professional mindset who can lead by example and help the young players within the squad.

“Rocky comes in with a level of expectation on his shoulders, however he is someone who will revel in the role with that responsibility and we feel it is a huge step in the right direction for the club and shows the intent that we have to really kick on next season.

“I would like to thank all those involved in getting this deal over the line swiftly and we look forward to seeing Rocky in yellow!”

Club Chairman, Mark Russell said: “Securing a deal with Rocky for the upcoming season is massive for the club.”

“He is the proven goalscorer everyone could see we needed for the upcoming campaign. I am looking forward to seeing Rocky back at Bolitho for the 2025/26 season.”

Everyone at Plymouth Parkway would like to welcome Rocky back to Bolitho Park and we look forward to watching him find the back of the net in Yellow!
