The "Talent Show"

Forget the exits! 🙅‍♀️ Parkway is all about the arrivals now.

So, Plymouth Parkway, the Yellow Army, the Bolitho Park faithful… they’ve been on a bit of a rollercoaster this week. One minute, they’re celebrating the appointment of Lee Peacock – yes, that Lee Peacock – in a full-time role at the club, a sign of the club’s lofty future ambitions. The next, they’re collectively losing their minds on social media as a handful of first teamers are forced and decide to, well, not be first-teamers anymore. It’s the beautiful chaos of non-league football, isn’t it?

Let’s recap the exodus, shall we? Mitch Beardmore and Ewan Griffiths have returned to their parent clubs (thanks for the memories, lads). Jack Endacott, the adventurous left-back, is off to America on a four-year scholarship (living the dream, we say!). And young Keiron Edworthy, whose Parkway career sadly never really got going thanks to a pesky injury, has decided to pursue other opportunities (good luck, Keiron!).

Now, before you Parkway fans start stockpiling tinned goods and building a Bolitho Park bunker, fear not! The board and management haven’t been sitting on their hands. They’ve been busy putting a plan in place, all while the hopes of “long-term visions” and “sustainable futures” begin to arrive sooner than first thought. Sounds promising, right?

First up, it’s a welcome home for Tylor Love-Holmes, the former product of Parkway’s youth academy returning on loan from Truro City. Remember him? The right-back whizz kid who chose Cornwall over Devon? He’s back in yellow for the remainder of the season.

Next, we have a name that’ll make Football Manager nerds squeal with delight: Sergii Ismail. Yes, that Sergii Ismail. On loan from Forest Green Rovers, he’s got bags of potential, a keen eye for goal, and wait for it, his own YouTube channel. Go on, look him up. We’ll wait.

And because good things apparently come in threes, we have Alfie Cunningham, swapping the red and black of Tavistock for the yellow of Parkway. An attacking midfielder with a penchant for flair, he’s another piece in the Parkway youth jigsaw.

So, three exciting youngsters in, a few established names out… it’s all change at Bolitho.

But what about the goalkeeper situation? With Ewan Griffiths gone, Andrew “The Bird” Sowden-Bird is set to don the gloves this weekend. Remember his heroics in the 2-2 draw at Swindon? Yeah, we thought you might.

Manager Chris McPhee, ever the pragmatist, admits they’re still searching for a long-term keeper. “We had one in place, but he got injured,” Macca revealed, adding with a sigh, “It’s one of those things but we won’t rush such an important role.”

Wait, wait, wait… if you have managed to scroll down this far, firstly, thank you very much. Secondly, and the pièce de résistance – Tom Dean’s loan spell has been extended to the end of the season. I mean, this is up there with the moon landing, and who shot JFK as front-page news! Joe Wragg and Frankie Monk remain on the sidelines still, due to long term injuries.

So, there you have it. A week of departures, arrivals, and a healthy dose of fan-fueled drama. Will these youngsters, as others have this season, flourish in the Yellow of Parkway? Only time will tell. But one thing’s for sure: it’s going to be an interesting remainder of the season.
