A Thursday night out in London for Parkway

Hanwell Town vs Parkway | Match Preview

By Mike Parrish

After playing on Tuesday evening at Poole Town’s Black Gold Stadium, Parkway have no time to recover as they once again board the coach on Thursday lunchtime for a grueling trip to London and another important fixture in the race for survival against Hanwell Town.

Parkway’s endeavors on Tuesday evening halted a run of three defeats in a row as Reece Thomson found himself free at the back post to level for Parkway and secure a 2-2 draw against a determined Poole Town. Parkway showed their fighting qualities and twice came from behind, with goals from Shane White (penalty) and Reece Thomson, all this following Parkway manager Lee Hobbs receiving a red card early in the second half.

The point lifted Parkway out of the drop-zone for now, but there is still work to be done to ensure Southern League status ahead of next season. However, this fighting point on the road will put the yellows in good stead heading to London on Thursday.

Hanwell themselves are in a similar position to Parkway and will be looking to make home advantage count in what could be dubbed a 6-pointer at the Powerday Stadium. The London Geordies have played two more games than the Yellows and sit third from bottom on 42 points, one point behind Parkway, highlighting the importance of this mid-week fixture.

The Geordies will also be looking to get back to winning ways after a run of three games without a win, with defeats against Sholing and Beaconsfield Town, sandwiched between a point at the Powerday against Gosport Borough. Hanwell last tasted victory back in March with a 2-0 win over relegated Didcot Town.

Hanwell already have the edge over Parkway this season thanks to goals from Samuel Evans and Dwayne Duncan, giving the Geordies a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture at Bolitho and will be looking to complete the double on Thursday evening.

For Parkway, this marks the second game of another busy week which concludes with Walton & Hersham as they return home to Bolitho for the first time since Easter Monday.
