Parkway Youth Round Up

Plymouth Parkway Youth

2 - Plymouth Parkway Colts

5 - Plymouth Parkway Youth

Written by Lee Sheldon

It was an all-Parkway affair in the cup and the game did not disappoint. Having only played one another a few weeks previous, the game had a similar feel about it. Parkway Colts starting strongly and fashioning some chances and Parkway Youth gradually building into a momentum and winning the game.

The deadlock was broken through the irrepressible Elijah. A typical bustling run and shot, taking a large deflection on the way, put Parkway Youth ahead. Colts had chances from distance and forced a couple of corners but in the main it became a midfield battle.

1-0 it stayed for a large part of the game but Parkway Youth fashioned lots of chances and possession but failed to hit the target.

Second half and it became 2-0. After a Parkway Colts corner was cleared, the ball fell too Isaac who raced up the pitch and calmly laid the ball to Elijah to finish.

The game was put to bed through the magician that is Semas. 3 goals of such high quality in a 10-minute period, all goal of the season contenders.

The biggest plus from the game was the high quality on show between both teams, in a physical affair, which ended with Plymouth Parkway Youth coming out on top. The main winner was the club again with a great showing of youth football!

Under 13's

1 - Tavistock

7 - Plymouth Parkway

A brilliant day for the boys. 7 different goal scorers, free flowing football, smiles all over the pitch and 4 wins out of 4 in the league.

A class performance. Especially in the first half our football was outstanding, we always looked for the right pass, committed players forward and really took the game to Tavistock.

Tavistock scored against the run of play with a deflected goal that Archie still got close to keeping out. But from that, we took kick off, played it around half of our team and equalised without Tavistock touching the ball. Rome finishing it off taking it round the keeper and slotting it in. Real class from our team.

For 2-1 Kings played Oscar who done brilliantly on the left wing to cross for Connor to put us ahead. For 3-1, Kings shown his class by beating 2 players and putting it top corner with his left foot. Keeper no chance. Then for 4-1, Sam struck the ball beautifully from 25 yards at least to lob the keeper. We were looking so comfortable and in complete control.

At half time I told the boys that if Tavi make it 4-2 then it’s game on so we had to score the next to put the game to bed.

We did that. Kings played in a great corner which Connor flicked on well and Reuben came in strong at the back post to finish it off. Then for 6-1, Kings played another clever through ball to Reuben, who played a fantastic low cross for Oscar to finish who was playing in an unfamiliar strikers’ role.

Then to finish it off, Rome won a penalty with a classy turn, Reece stepped up and managed to put it away to score his first goal for Parkway and first in football for a very long time. Buzzing for Reece. 7-1.

Another fantastic performance. We are starting to show how good we can be in possession, which controls games better. We have always been brilliant defensively, but our passing game has improved massively.

Mentions for a few players. Harry was first class today. Defended perfectly and played some such clever passes when under pressure. Oliver had his best game for a few weeks. I don’t think he lost any challenges. Not in the air or on the floor. Connor worked very hard and caused problems, especially first half. Luke just keeps getting better every week. I would add that Parkway Colts caused a late and deserved scare, with two goals. The first from a well taken penalty from Kit and the second a clever finish.

Elsewhere, Parkway Under 13’s enjoyed an important win in their quest for the title with a 3-0 win over Plymouth Colts. With the score line 0-0 at the break, goals from Tranter, Orford and Chambers sealed the points in a fine second half performance. The two teams meet again in the Cup in what will surely be another enthralling game.
