A trip to Bristol to take on tough Western Premier League opposition

This Saturday the first team are on their travels once again with a trip to Bristol to take on Cribbs of the Western Premier League with a 3pm kick off.

This is our first trip to Cribbs and we very much look forward to taking on new opponents from the league in which we hope to be promoted to next season. We are travelling by coach leaving Bolitho Park at 10:30am so this should be a fantastic team building day out for the club.

This will be another really good test for us as preparation continues for the new season. We look to build on Wednesday nights 4-3 success away at Holsworthy. Wednesday was a tough, physical encounter on a very tight pitch.

We created and spurned many chances however still managed to score 4 times through debutants Sam Davey 2, Tyler Elliott and an OG direct from a corner.

We certainly looked rusty and lacked the sharpness / cutting edge we had hoped for. There were lots of new players, and partnerships so understandably it will take a little time to gel the team and work out out most suited formation.

We were disappointed with conceding 3 times with probably Holsworthy’s only three shots of the night. All the goals were very soft to concede and certainly gives us something to work on. All in all an excellent much needed run out.

The squad is currently very light on the ground with holidays, work commitments and injuries all taking its toll. We travel this Saturday without goalkeeper Martin Piper, central defenders Josh Zimmerman / Gavin Coulton.

Jordan Trott, Luke Rundle and Paul Heveran are all injured and midfielder Danny Lewis is also unavailable. On a positive note the available players are getting plenty of minutes and much needed match sharpness.

Chris Head and Callum Thompson do return however after missing Wednesday nights victory at Holsworthy.
The squad for Saturday is as follows – D Smith, M Hughes, J Heveran, J Bass, C Head, C Watson, C Pople, S Colwell, M Berry C Watson, S Davey, M Smith, C Thompson, J Grant.
