Solid away start the perfect tonic for Farkins and Parkway
It can be away days like these that could prove the trickiest for title chasing Plymouth Parkway but they past their first test with flying colours.
Despite a cagey opening 20 mins, Parkway found their rhythm and put Bridport to the sword five times at St. Mary’s Field yesterday. Goals from Mikey Williams (2) Jack Calver, Adam Carter and an own goal sealed the win for Lee Hobbs’ men.
After the game, vice-captain and centre back Rob Farkins shared his verdict with #ppfc: “To sum up today’s performance in one word would be professional. With a few changes of personnel with rotation, our first away game couldn’t have gone better. Bridport done well but had a game plan to disrupt and try to hold us out as long as possible, but today we were resilient in our build up and didn’t force to much. At times, we could have had more patience but to come away 5-0 winners at a tough ground was the perfect first away performance. We now turn our attentions to a very very hard game on Wednesday night against the inform and newly promoted Exmouth Town, who will be no mugs and will be a massive test for us. But one we will be ready for and give everything to put another three points on the board”
A fine start to the season not only for a starting 11 but for the squad, as Lee Hobbs and Karl Curtis shuffle the pack once again to utilise the strength in depth the pair have moulded over preseason.
Wednesday will see an early season showdown when Exmouth come to town. The Blues produced a wonderful away performance to win at The WDS Stadium against Dan Langdon’s title contenders Bitton and with the game being a Devon derby, it should be a hotly contested fixture, not to be missed.
Lee and Karl will relish the opportunity, as will the squad, as the game has all the ingredients necessary for an early season cracker.
Kick off for that one – Wednesday 7:45
