Back on the road
Chesham Utd vs Parkway | Match PreviewBy Alex Haynes
This Saturday, Plymouth Parkway hit the road in search of their first points of the season at Chesham United. It has been a poor start to say the least, but the boys will know that they can perform better than in previous matches and will fight to stop the rot Saturday afternoon. With determination, hard work, and support from those around them, it’s only a matter of time before The Yellows find some form this season.
Parkway slumped to a 3-1 defeat at Bolitho on Tuesday night at the hands of Sholing. Just as it looked as if we had secured a point, The Boatmen scored two late goals to break yellow hearts and make sure we remained at the foot of the table after three defeats.
Meanwhile, Chesham have enjoyed a 100% start to the season. After their first game was abandoned at half time due to heavy rainfall (they were 3-0 up), United went on to win their next two games against Hungerford Town and Hayes & Yeading by a scoreline of two goals to one in each fixture. They will once again be hunting for promotion this term as they put the disappointment of last season’s playoff semi-final defeat behind them.
Saturday will be a tough outing for Parkway, especially with captain Ryan Lane still absent due to suspension, but if the squad can lift each other up and remain mentally strong then there is a big chance we can finally get points on the board. Despite the painful losses, there have been positive signs and the team must build on that.
Last season Parkway and Chesham shared the spoils at Bolitho in a 2-2 draw. Unfortunately for The Yellows, they lost 4-0 in the reverse fixture.
