The Bank Holiday Bash at Bolitho
Parkway v Hendon | Match PreviewBy Alex Haynes
This Saturday Plymouth Parkway return to Bolitho for a home game against Hendon. Last weekend saw us fall to a fourth consecutive defeat after losing 4-3 to Chesham United, so the search continues for that elusive first point of the season.
It may well have been a defeat on Saturday, but there were signs of the Parkway of old and many reasons to be cheerful. Plenty of chances and goals were scored, but most importantly the team spirit was high. This is something that the squad can build on and hopefully turn into positive results going forward especially as they return to full strength.
Hendon have had a strong start to the campaign, and they remain unbeaten. After a 3-1 win on the opening day against Sholing, they went on to draw their next three games and now sit 12th in the table. Parkway remain at the foot of the league, but a win on Saturday could change that. It is of course still very early days, and if The Yellows can put a run together, the landscape of the season will change dramatically.
Parkway can look forward to the return of their captain Ryan Lane and Toby Down on Saturday after suspensions. Harrison King is set to return, and Mikey Williams is also available.
In the 22/23 season, Parkway recorded a resounding 6-0 victory against Hendon at Bolitho, with Jack Crago and Callum Hall among the goals. In the reverse fixture at Silver Jubilee Park, Hendon came away 3-1 winners.
All signs point to this one being a close game, but with the right attitude and the home support getting behind the lads, Parkway will be confident they can end Hendon’s unbeaten run and get points on the board.
