Parkway Look to Put it Right on the Road

Evesham United v Parkway | Match Preview

By Mike Parrish

Parkway leave the picturesque surroundings of fortress Bolitho Park behind them this weekend as they pack their bags and return to the road, preparing to take on Evesham United in another crucial fixture.

Away days are part of the Parkway DNA. Whatever the distance, there is rarely a complaint, a trait that perhaps others in the division, who face the long trip to Plymouth once a season, may come to appreciate if they are to climb the ladder and encounter even greater mileage in the future.

It has been a remarkable turnaround for Parkway. Prior to the visit of Wimborne Town, the form guide showed five straight league defeats, including a difficult afternoon at Taunton. Since then, the picture has changed.

Jenson Ireland’s strike helped bring an end to that run before a productive few days saw three new signings arrive alongside the return of Taylor Scarff and Tylor Love-Holmes from injury. A hard-fought win over Yate Town followed, before a confident and controlled performance against play-off chasing Chertsey Town made it three victories in succession.

Now comes another test.

The table tells its own story. Parkway sit 15th, Evesham 16th, with just a single point separating the sides. Evesham also hold a game in hand, while Parkway remain three points clear of the relegation places. It may not define the season, but it is a fixture that could shape the weeks ahead.

Stuart Dudley is expected to be without Mikey Williams, while Joe Hatch will be assessed ahead of the trip after his recent injury. The interim manager could welcome back captain Shane White as he looks to select a side capable of extending Parkway’s run.

Evesham arrive winless in four matches, though draws against Sholing and Uxbridge have kept them ticking over. They will view a home fixture as an opportunity to regain their safety push.

For Parkway, the message remains simple. Momentum has been built at Bolitho Park, now they must show they can take it on the road.
