Return to Bolitho

The Preview: Parkway vs Uxbridge

By Kian Williams

Plymouth Parkway entertain Uxbridge under the lights tomorrow evening, as Karl Curtis’s side look for an immediate response to the loss away at Hanworth Villa at the weekend.

The Yellows travelled to Rectory Meadow looking to take their impressive home form on the road. Despite Ed Harrison’s first goal in yellow and Callum Hall’s seventh of the campaign, Curtis’s side were defeated 4-2 and left their first trip to the capital this season empty handed.

Curtis spoke to Parkway TV following his side’s disappointment. He said “We’ve lost to a very good team, sometimes you stick your hands up and be very complimentary of the opposition.” The Parkway boss was also impressed with midfielder Ed Harrison “He trains so well and works so hard when he comes on, so he deserved his start and he got himself a goal.”

Finally, Curtis looked ahead to the fixture against Uxbridge where he said “The result might not come on Tuesday, but we want a better performance, lets get that right first.” Before following on saying “If we can play to the levels we did against another very good side in Gloucester, we got ourselves a chance.”

A Tuesday night under the lights could prove the perfect opportunity to respond. Parkway’s impressive 100% league record at Bolitho still remains intact, as Middlesex side Uxbridge make the long trip down to PL5.

The Red Army sit at the summit of the Southern League Premier South. After a fantastic week, claiming six points from six, the side leapfrogged Poole Town to go top the table. On Tuesday night Uxbridge travelled to Basingstoke. An early brace from Trevan Robinson was enough as Uxbridge secured their first win of the week. Only a few days later, Troy Perez-Duah and Jack Burchell got on the scoresheet as Uxbridge claimed their second win of the week, beating Yate Town at home.

Uxbridge’s only defeat of the league campaign came at the hands of Berkhamsted. The side Parkway face on the 9th of November for a place in the second round of the FA Cup. Since their defeat, the Red Army have accumulated four league wins on the bounce. A win also came against Egham Town, which advanced them into the second round proper of the FA Trophy. Despite their impressive run, Uxbridge must overcome a difficult week in order to continue their league charge.

A trip to the fortress of Bolitho, followed by a trip to second placed Poole Town presents a challenging week ahead for the Red Army. Parkway also begin an important week as a win against top of the league could be the perfect prequel for next Monday, where the TNT Sports cameras make an appearance at a sold out Bolitho, as the Parkway faithful anticipate a potentially historic night where Berkhamsted are the visitors.

In the two previous competitive meetings between the sides, the away side has taken three points in both encounters. After Uxbridge’s promotion in the 2024/25 season, the Red Army dismantled Parkway 3-0. In the return fixture, the Yellows got their revenge as goals from James Watts-Barciela and Gunnar Franke secured the points in Middlesex.

After Mikey Williams returned from an injury suffered at Basingstoke, Curtis will have a strong squad to choose from, as his side look to respond immediately to Saturday’s setback.

The league leaders are in town, but the challenge remains clear, as the Red Army look to become the first side to conquer Parkway in their own backyard.

“I back us against anyone at home.” was the statement made from the Parkway boss. Another chance to respond to awayday blues. Round our way. Under the lights at Bolitho.
