One eye on the weather as Parkway seek long overdue homecoming

Parkway v Didcot Town | Match Preview

By Alex Haynes

After a massive away win last weekend, Plymouth Parkway are back on home soil this Saturday to face Didcot Town at the second time of asking.

The Yellows bounced back in style after a defeat on the road against Salisbury to claim their first away win of the season against a strong Walton & Hersham side. Dylan Jones showed class and composure to slot home the winner in the dying embers of the match to give Parkway a 2-1 victory.

Dylan would also be on the scoresheet along with Mikey Williams and Matt Wright, as Parkway eased passed Ivybridge Town to book their place in the next round of the Devon County Cup.

There were positives to take away from the Salisbury defeat, and the lads built on that to record the impressive win in Surrey. Points have been hard to come by so far this season and Parkway remain in the drop zone, but we have two games in hand over Harrow Borough who sit one place above us. A big result against Didcot at Bolitho may be enough to lift us out of trouble and will certainly add to the confidence already instilled by the win against the Swans last week.

Didcot have struggled to get going this season. They were promoted from the Southern League Division One Central via the playoffs in the last campaign and are currently bottom of the table on six points. They have lost their last four matches and are desperately seeking a positive turnaround.

This could make them dangerous opponents on Saturday, but on the other hand, it might be the right time to play the Railwaymen. This is also a match Parkway will believe they can win convincingly in front of home fans.

Parkway and Didcot met in the first round of FA Cup qualifying last season. It finished 1-1 at Loop Meadow Stadium before the Yellows secured a 3-2 win at Bolitho in the replay.
