Across the border we go

Merthyr v Parkway Match Preview

It may come as a bit of a surprise that Saturday’s victory over Salisbury was Parkway’s first on the road since October, but it’s been a strange few months.

That figure is diluted by the fact that so many games have been called off lately, but the performance and the result was another strong step in the right direction.

Callum Hall’s fifth goal of the season continued a run of solid momentum, and we take that to Wales in midweek as we face off against Merthyr Town.

The Martyrs have been more or less equally strong at home as they have been away, taking six of their 11 victories at Penydarren Park.

They have scored 21 goals in those six so travelling away will not be an easy task, but this plucky side has faced plenty of tricky assignments this campaign, incrementally overcoming more and more of them.

The Yellows’ success at the weekend was just the second away from home in the league this season, and they will be keenly eyeing a third in midweek.

Match Info

Past meetings:

Two cup qualifiers preceded our 1-0 home defeat to Merthyr in the early going of the 2022-23 campaign. The Welshmen walked away 1-0 winners from an FA Cup qualifier in 2019, before we exacted revenge by the same score line two years later. There has never been more than one goal in a game between the two sides.

Travel:

A round trip of just under six hours awaits those going up on Tuesday, taking the M5 and the M4. There is room on the supporters’ coach, just email [email protected] for more details!

Weather:

It will be a pretty chilly one on Tuesday night, but no rain is expected.
