Parkway prepare for a trip to Hampshire and a long overdue first game of 2024Gosport Borough vs Parkway | Match Preview
By Alex Haynes
Plymouth Parkway will travel to Hampshire this Saturday to face Gosport Borough.
If the fixture goes ahead, this will be our first game since the Boxing Day draw against Tiverton Town. It has been a frustrating time of late to be involved with Parkway.
Despite the negativity around the postponed fixtures, we are in a good place. The Yellows may have played the least number of games in the league by an ever-increasing margin, but we are still in touching distance of the teams above us. A few precious game-in-hand wins will see us continue to climb the table and begin to threaten the clubs who are pushing for a play-off spot. In the form the lads are in, there’s no reason why not.
Gosport Borough have had to endure some postponements lately too – part and parcel at this time of year for a non-league club. They are undefeated in three matches though, with two wins and a draw, and they haven’t lost since mid-December. The Boro are currently in fourth place with 46 points.
It’ll be interesting to see how Parkway are coping with the lack of football lately. Saturday’s match will be a tough test, but we are unbeaten in five league games and encouraging results against high-flying teams such as Chesham and Merthyr will provide confidence. It’s set to be a busy month for Plymouth Parkway.
At the beginning of the season, Borough ran out 2-0 winners against Parkway at Bolitho. A lot has changed for the Yellows since the bleak start to the campaign, so expect the lads to fight hard for all three points and pick up where they left off.
