Parkway vs Baffins Milton Rovers
FA Cup First Round Qualifying
Saturday, August 31
Bolitho Park 3pm

Parkway puts their Southern League campaign to one side this weekend as they prepare for an FA Cup weekend at Bolitho Park and a first ever meeting with Wessex Premier League side Baffins Milton Rovers.

After an indifferent start to the league campaign, which has yielded two points from Parkway’s first five games, the focus for the club now shifts to the oldest cup competition in the world and another chance to register their first win of the season.

Amidst the 2022/23 season, Parkway recorded their record run in the FA Cup, reaching the third round qualifying stage before bowing out 3-1 in an extra time replay against Oxford City. The Yellows reached the second round qualifying stage of the competition last season with victory over Dorchester in the first qualifying round but exited the competition following a 2-1 defeat to Frome Town in a replay after a 2-2 draw was played out at Bolitho Park. The Yellows will be hoping to go one step further this season, but Saturday will no doubt prove another tricky obstacle as manager Danny Thomspon brings down his unbeaten Baffins Milton Rovers side to PL5!

The step 5 side has enjoyed a superb start to the season and remain unbeaten and most recently put six past AFC Porchester in the FA Vase last weekend. They have already played twice in this season’s FA Cup with wins over Petersfield Town and Shepton Mallet and will hope to make it a hat-trick of wins in the competition this season as they head to Devon. Last season’s league cup winners can score goals and with former football league striker Brett Pitman in their ranks, they will head to Devon full of confidence.

With the FA Cup providing a bit of respite from Parkway’s league form, it will provide Yellows boss Chris McPhee a further chance to keep building on his Parkway project that has shown more than a few glimpses that everything is heading in the right direction.

With Jack Crago still out on loan, Parkway do welcome back Tom Dean and Mitchel Beardmore who impressed during Exeter Cit’s 4-1 win over Bromley in the Premier League Cup. Alex Cairo remains sidelined due to injury, but Callum Hall and Callum Rose will be available for selection following recent injury troubles. Work is continuing behind the scenes in the goalkeeper department but Luke McCormick, who has impressed in recent weeks will be available again for selection this weekend. Centre Back Sam Joce is set to join Tavistock on loan. Sam impressed during the 0-0 draw against Tiverton Town but limited opportunities this season mean a loan spell with Tavistock will help with match fitness and benefit all parties.

A reminder to all Parkway fans that season tickets do not cover cup competition games and where possible, the club asks fans to purchase their ticket online to ease entry into Bolitho Park on Saturday afternoon.
