SALTASH UNITED VS PARKWAY

Parkway ‘almost there’ despite defeat at the Waterways Stadium

A VIEW FROM ACROSS THE TAMAR

Parkway headed across the Tamar to familiar territory and familiar personal as the Ashes and Shane Krac would be waiting in the wings.

On another cool summers evening, Parkways build up to the new season continued and more huge strides forward would be taken. Credit would go to Western League side Saltash United who picked up the win as Parkway faced another solid defensive unit.

Plymouth Argyle and Mousehole aside, it would be the third outing during this pre-season campaign that the Yellows would face a resolute defensive system. The first half would be a war of attrition as the Yellows failed to carve open the Ashes as they looked to stifle Parkways front line.

It would be an effective ploy and with their first chance of the game, former Yellow Mike Smith found the net in customary fashion to put the Ashes 1 up at the break.

The second half would see Parkway shift through the gears and for large parts, they would play some high tempo, quick passing football without finding the elusive equaliser.

Jordan Duffy in the Ashes goal would make some key saves in the second period and a post would be struck but that’s as close as the Yellows would come to an equaliser.

Parkway would hand new loan signing Brandon Pursell some minutes in the second half and the squads fitness levels continued to flourish after another busy 90 minutes.

With the new season just around the corner, Parkway face one final test as the South West pre-season roadshow continues with a trip to Langsford Park on Saturday afternoon. Once Parkway travel back from Tavistock, it will be all eyes on more club history as they prepare to welcome Chesham United to Bolitho Park as the Yellows maiden season in the Southern Premier League South begins on Saturday August 6th
