Parkway Aims to Continue Winning Streak Against Resilient Dorchester
Dorchester Town vs Parkway | Match PreviewBy Alex Haynes
Parkway’s fine form continued in the midweek match against Hayes & Yeading. Returning from a prosperous loan spell with Tavistock, young striker Dylan Jones played a major role in the victory, scoring after only three minutes and winning a penalty that Shane White converted. The 2-0-win means that the Yellows are now unbeaten in eight league games and move up to 14th place on 30 points, still with multiples games in hand.
Dorchester were able to snap a four- game losing streak two weeks ago by beating Harrow Borough 2-0 away from home, before going on to secure a superb 3-2 victory over third-placed Merthyr Town last weekend at The Avenue Stadium. The Magpies currently occupy 18th place and sit just above the relegation zone.
The Yellows hold two wins over Dorchester already this season. Back in September they were 2-0 winners in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup at Bolitho. Parkway then dominantly dispatched the Magpies 5-0 just over three weeks later, once again on home soil. Dorchester’s last victory over Parkway came during the 2022/23 season – a 3-1 win at The Avenue Stadium.
Parkway have been solid in defence, clinical in front of goal, and the midfield have been instrumental in dictating the pace of play. If the momentum that has been created is sustained, then play-off ambitions from the start of the season will be reignited. Dorchester will feel that they have hit some good form at the right time and despite Parkway’s recent success, will fancy their chances at home.
