Dorchester Town vs Parkway Town | Match Preview

Can Parkway find first league win in Dorset?

Some of us love them, some of loath them, all of us want to win them. It is time for the first Tuesday night away trip of the season and it is against Dorchester Town.

The Magpies won 11 games in front of their home fans last season in a campaign that started shakily but became stronger and more consistent as the term wore on.

Their improvements therein helped them to 19th in the league, 22 points above the hapless Wimborne Town.

The Dorset side have experienced the ups and downs at the start of the current season too; a first half Alfie Stanley double helped them to a 2-1 win at the Avenue Stadium on the opening day, but Truro would pick them apart last weekend, winning 4-0 at Bolitho Park.

It was an example, if one was needed, that the highs are going to be very high, and the lows very low in this league, so every point – home and away – is vital.

Parkway are yet to taste victory this season, despite the late heroics of Ben Seymour on the opening day that saw us take a point against Chesham.

The striker’s frustration ended up in a sending off on Saturday as the boys fell to a cruel, and perhaps a little harsh, 3-1 defeat to Beaconsfield.

Rio Garside did get off the mark at Holloways Park though, so there were positives to be taken from an afternoon that simply would not fall for Lee Hobbs’ men.

Tuesday night is a chance to put things right and climb above 17th in the league and grab those first three points of the season.

Past Meetings

The two sides have never met before, but with two points and as many league positions separating them, Tuesday’s encounter, even this early, is a big one.

Travel

The car is the best way to go to get to Dorchester, travelling up the A38 towards Exeter, before peeling off onto the A30 towards Honiton.

After a short drive there, it’s onto the A35 and through to Avenue Stadium.

Weather

There is currently a 51 percent chance of rain for kick-off, but that could well change between now and Tuesday evening.

What is almost certain is that it will still be relatively warm, so it is probably best to dress for summer but have a raincoat at the ready.
