Bolitho all set for Parkway homecoming

Parkway vs Didcot Town | Match Preview

By Mike Parrish

Plymouth Parkway return home to Bolitho Park on Tuesday evening for the first time since January 30th. The long-awaited moment will finally arrive for the Yellow faithful, who got to see their team play in the city last week when they enjoyed a big night out at Home Park on Thursday evening.

Since the last home fixture at Bolitho Park, the Yellows have endured a difficult spell in this season’s Southern League campaign. Numerous postponements and six defeats from seven games have plunged Parkway into the relegation zone with 32 points, but they have at least 4 games in hand on teams above them.

The remainder of the campaign will be defined as a relegation battle, with a host of teams still looking over their shoulders. It is set for a fascinating few weeks, and if Parkway is going to have the best chance of avoiding the drop, they will need to be back at Bolitho and in front of their loyal fans, starting with Didcot Town tomorrow evening.

Didcot Town finds themselves at the bottom of the Southern League table, having amassed 24 points from 35 games. Despite sitting at the bottom, this will be by no means an easy win for Parkway. Jamie Heapy’s side will be heading to Plymouth aiming for all three points, and despite a 4-0 defeat to Gosport Borough on the weekend, there have been some encouraging signs of late for Town.

Didcot slipped to a narrow defeat against AFC Totton, which was preceded by two superb points against promotion-chasing Salisbury & Walton & Hersham. This will be the first meeting between the two sides this season following numerous postponements, and the Railwaymen will be heading to PL5 full of confidence.

The two sides met twice in the FA Cup last season. Loop Meadow played out a 1-1 draw before Bolitho Park witnessed Parkway progress to the next round as they ran out 3-2 winners.
