Parkway made the brighter start creating a couple of early opportunities with Dylan Jones shooting just wide on 2 minutes after good build up play along the right with Callum Hall firing wide shortly after.

Parkway continued to be the more dominant side with Ryan Lane’s cross from the left on 5 minutes well gathered by Flachra Pagel in the home goal. Parkway continued to show good energy forcing a free kick on 7 minutes unfortunately wasted due to a poor delivery.

Marine made their first foray forward on 10 minutes with Adam Parkes beating Harry Williams to a long through ball just inside the 18 yard area. Parkway continued to press high with intensity and a neat passage of play along the left on 12 minutes saw Mikey Williams’ cross to the far post find White who headed just over. Parkway forced another corner on 15 minutes with the ball played to White whose shot was blocked and cleared.

The hosts created their first half chance on 16 minutes. Good build up play between Harry Williams and Dave Sims-Burgess set up George Dowling whose close range shot was comfortably saved by Parkes. Having rode the early storm Marine forced their way back into the game and took the lead on 19 minutes.

A corner on the left was poorly defended by Parkway allowing central defender Ioan Richards to power home a forceful header at the back post despite the best efforts of Parkes to keep it out. Parkway responded well continuing to press and compete as the game became a more even affair with both sides creating half chances.

The hosts looked more threatening along their left and on 34 minutes good link up play between Ryan Campbell and Liban Ibrahim released Dowling whose effort was palmed away by Parkes.

Parkway then created 2 good chances of their own only to be denied by some resolute, backs to the wall defending,

On 38 minutes a powerful close range shot by Crago rebounded off the keeper, was blocked and then cleared by Richards followed a minute later by Lane and White linking well to set up Tom Purrington whose close range shot was cleared off the line by Matt Liddiard.

Pagel then saved well low down from a deflected Parkway shot with Parkes then called into action at the other end diving at full stretch to save a powerful drive from around 12 yards by Sims-Burgess. The 4 minutes of added time saw Parkway unfortunate not to draw level. In the 2nd minute Crago showing desire and tenacity won the ball in midfield and released Jones wide on the left who cut in and fired across Pagel with his shot hitting the inside of the right hand post with his follow up from the rebounded loose ball somehow being blocked by Sam Turl and eventually cleared away to bring the half to a close.

An even half with Parkway starting the sharper and creating some good chances which unfortunately they were unable to convert with Marine getting back into the game and taking the lead arguably against the run of play after some poor Parkway defending from a corner. By their own admission the hosts rode their luck at times and managed to maintain their narrow lead as a result of some solid and at times back to the wall defending.

Parkway created the first chance of the second half on 49 minutes with Hall seeing his effort well saved but it was the hosts who doubled their lead on 50 minutes.

A Parkway attack broke down allowing Marine to break away along the left with Sims-Burgess getting ahead of Parkes at the near post to glance home a well directed Ibrahim cross.  The hosts should have gone further ahead on 52 minutes with Turl going clear but scuffing his shot allowing Parkes to save easily.

Parkway reacted by making a double substitution and formation change on 55 minutes with Cameron Sangster replacing Rio Garside and Matt Wright on for Mikey Williams who appeared to have picked up an injury after being subjected to a couple of heavy challenges in the first half.

Parkway responded well with Wright seeing a shot blocked on 56 minutes and a strong run forward by Lane on 58 minutes being halted by a foul by Jake Andrews who picked up the game’s first caution.

The resultant free kick by Jones was cleared away allowing a Marine break along the left which came to nothing after some solid Parkway defending. The hosts made their first change on the hour with Joe Tumelty replacing Dowling.

Marine gradually began to control the pace of the game content to contain and play on the counter with Parkway guilty of conceding possession too easily in midfield and unable to penetrate the solid backline.

On 62 minutes a quickly taken speculative free kick by Andrews from around 60 yards sailed narrowly over the bar with Parkes backpedalling. Play went through a scrappy phase and on 65 minutes a fracas close the bye line after a hand ball resulted in yellow cards for Toby Down, Lane and Sims-Burgess.

On 67 minutes Reece Thomson replaced Hall as Parkway looked to increase their striking options and find a way back into the game but it was the hosts who continued to look the more threatening forcing corners from the left and then right on 69 minutes.

With Parkway off field frustration increasing, both the manager and coach were shown yellow cards in quick succession after comments made to the officials. With Marine looking to slow the game down and break up play, new signing Michael Fernandes replaced Sims-Burgess on 70 minutes.

Parkway continued to look to force their way back in to the game and on 72 minutes Jones and Thomson linked well with the latter’s cross finding Wright whose header was cleared. Lane then made a strong forward and slid in Thomson whose angled drive was saved low down at his near post by Pagel.

Marine continued to absorb pressure and play on the counter with Parkway rarely getting into the final third with the hosts continuing to defend strongly. On 77 minutes a Marine break along the left saw Parkes make a superb save from a Williams close range header with the striker having drifted narrowly offside.

Parkway continued to work hard, compete and create  pressure without creating too many clear chances and 79 minutes Wright and Jones linked well on the left with the latter being dragged down on the edge of the 18 yard area with Turl being booked for the challenge.

The resultant free kick saw a Parkway effort hooked behind with Marine then breaking quickly along the left and Halls doing well to cover and clear.

Marine made their final change on 85 minutes with Bradley Gray replacing Williams. Parkway continued to push forward with Marine content to contain and on 86 minutes a deep cross from Crago reached Jones whose header failed to test Pagel.

On 88 minutes another Parkway corner was cleared and with so many men pushed forward they were unsurprisingly caught on the break. The speedy Fernandes raced clear unchallenged along the right and squared the ball to fellow substitute Gray who, unmarked, had the simple task of poking home past an exposed Parkes to seal the game.

Despite this Parkway did not give up and created a couple more half chances in the 6 added minutes with Crago having a header saved and Jones heading narrowly over with Marine defending resolutely until the end.

A strong first half performance by Parkway who could consider themselves unfortunate to be behind at the break having arguably the better of the game and creating more clear cut chances than the hosts. However conceding the early second half goal altered the complexion of the game allowing Marine to control large parts of the half.

Despite personnel and formation changes and continuing to compete well throughout, Parkway were unable to match their first half performance or provide the necessary quality or penetration in the final third to break down a solid Marine defence.

The result sees Parkway remain in 19th place, the final relegation slot, and now 6 points from safety but still with numerous games in hand which are becoming ever more crucial. They now, weather permitting, face 3 games in 5 days commencing on Tuesday with a visit to 14th  placed Hanwell Town followed by 2 home games with 5th placed Merthyr Town the visitors to Bolitho Park on Thursday and 17th placed Hayes and Yeading the visitors next Saturday.
