Parkway prepare for the challenge of Championship neighbours Plymouth Argyle

Parkway v Argyle| Match Preview

By Alex Haynes

After almost three months away, Parkway are back in action at Bolitho for some pre-season festivities.

Once again, we will take on newly promoted Plymouth Argyle at home after the summer break. The all-Plymouth affair provides invaluable experience against league opposition for the Yellows, and of course, an engaging atmosphere for all.

In last year’s festival of football, Parkway came agonisingly close to victory against The Pilgrims. Goals from former players Billy Palfrey and Ben Seymour put the Yellows 2-0 up, but Argyle spared their blushes with late goals from Ryan Hardie and Joe Edwards.

Argyle have won four out of the last five meetings, but there are always positives for the Yellows to take away. They pushed the Greens hard back in 2020 in a 2-1 defeat, and the draw last year will surely give them confidence for Tuesday.

We had to say goodbye to four regulars from last season, and we wish them all the best for the future, but fresh faces have been added to the Parkway squad during the transfer window and will receive a warm welcome on their first appearance at Bolitho.

Goalkeeper Cory Harvey returns, but for the first time under manager Lee Hobbs. Striker Adam Carter is also back after a successful season at Saltash United. Joe Belsten, Alfie Moulden and Henry Wilson have also joined the squad as well as former Argyle midfielder Tom Purrington.

The Pilgrims are coming off a hugely successful season, winning League One in dramatic fashion and racking up an incredible 101 points in the process. They return to the Championship for the first time since 2010.

The pre-season clash with Argyle promises to be an entertaining one as usual and with the game sold-out, please arrive in good time.
