Parkway rested and ready for the City challenge

By Rob Kershaw

It was a frustratingly familiar story on Friday night when we prepared for a trip to Tiverton, only to see the game postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The winter weather has clearly decided that it is now willing to move on yet but as we begin to move into spring, here’s hoping it improves going into the season’s closing stages.

Our weekend off did not affect our league position at all – we are still 11th with eight games left to play this campaign – but the 4-0 defeat at the hands of Harrow Borough remains our last fixture.

Victory on Tuesday evening would be our 11th at Bolitho this campaign, and it would be at the expense of a Winchester City side that claimed their first win in five last weekend by thrashing Beaconsfield 4-0.

It was a much-needed result that places them 16th in the league having played 36 games. Seven points off the relegation zone is not a pleasant place to be, so this will be a hungry side desperate for three points. Focus will be key for the Yellows.

Past Meetings

An ill-tempered six-goal thriller last season saw both sides walk away with a point as Billy Palfrey and Jack Crago got on the scoresheet, before Winchester beat us 2-1 last month.

Travel

A trip of almost three hours will bring you down the A303, the A30 and the A38 on Tuesday. There may be spaces available on a supporters’ coach or other alternative travel. Please contact Winchester for information on that.

Weather

There is a fairly strong chance of rain on Tuesday night in the Ocean City, so do bring something waterproof!
