League points on show as Dorchester make second trip to Plymouth

Parkway v Dorchester Town | Match Preview

By Alex Haynes

Plymouth Parkway are back in action at Bolitho on Tuesday night, this time for a league fixture against Dorchester Town.

The Magpies return to Plymouth after only three weeks away and will be looking to avenge a 2-0 loss at the hands of the Yellows in the FA Cup first qualifying round.

It has been tough for Parkway to get going in the league so far this season, especially with cup competitions being front and centre of late. After exiting the FA Cup in dramatic fashion against Frome Town a week ago, the team can now predominantly focus on the league schedule again.

Saturday was not the result we were hoping for though, as the lads suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Harrow Borough. Parkway have only picked up one win in eight league games, but panicking would be foolish at this stage of the season.

All the signs point to an improvement in form. The three-game unbeaten run in league and cup displayed the team’s quality, and even a 4-3 loss to league leaders Chesham showed that we are capable of competing with the top teams.

Dorchester’s season has also been inconsistent. They have won three league games this season, including their last outing – a 3-1 win over Didcot Town.

Parkway have a good record against Dorchester. They will be confident of another victory on Tuesday after beating them comfortably in the FA Cup. Last season the Magpies came away 3-1 winners at The Avenue Stadium, but Parkway are now on a three-match winning streak against the Dorset club including a 3-0 win at Bolitho towards the end of the last campaign.

It’s still all to play for, but Parkway need to find some form sooner rather than later and home against Dorchester will be a good place to start. Fans will need to get behind the lads on Tuesday evening, so get to Bolitho and show them your support.
