Plymouth Parkway U12's

Cup Success

By Lee Sheldon - March 2023

Plymouth Parkway U12s are in the Devon Cup semi-final and the U12 league cup final.

At the time of writing, the Parkway youth team were due to play league rivals MAP in the semi-final of the Devon cup, in what is set to be a tough fixture, against a very talented side.

From 64 teams, Parkway U12s have made their way to the final 4 with a string of brilliant performances.

They came through the two previous rounds with impressive victories against teams highly placed in their respective leagues throughout Devon, winning 6-2 in the last 16 and then 4-1 in the 1/4 final.

The teams resolute defence and formidable attack has seen them string together some performances that have been complimented throughout, with a quick passing style that is very easy on the eye and in-keeping with the ‘Parkway Way’ of playing football.

In the league cup, Parkway U12s overcame their Devon cup semi-final opponents, MAP, with a fine 3-2 victory away from home. Isaac Sheldon with two great goals and Henry Easterbrook with a fine header led the team to a 3-0 score line but MAP fought back to make it a nervy finish.

This booked their place in the final for a second year running where they will look to retain their crown vs Southgate on May 7th 2023, at Haye Rd.

It’s been a mixed season in the league, one full of learning but maybe lacking in consistency at times.

A 2nd or 3rd place finish is still possible; however, the team will likely look back on certain results and be disappointed, however they shouldn’t be – the level of application, teamwork and no end of skill has been the real winner this season.

They are still very young and still learning their trade. The style of play that the team have adopted is at times exhilarating to watch and they can be very proud of their efforts!

One final push required, and hopefully some more silverware to add to their impressive haul from the previous few years.

Come show your support on Sunday 9th April for an 11am kick off at Marine Academy School for the Devon Cup Semi-Final and, on Sunday 7th May 2023 for a 4:30pm kick off down at Haye Road.
