Parkway Aim to Bounce Back Against Sholing

Parkway v Sholing | Match Preview

By Alex Haynes

It was another disappointing afternoon for Plymouth Parkway at Bolitho on Saturday. Our second game of the season and first one at home ended in a 2-0 defeat to Gosport Borough. Once again, we were reduced to 10 men after Toby Down received a second yellow card, and manager Lee Hobbs was also sent off after confronting the referee.

On Tuesday night, Parkway have another chance to put things right on home soil as last season’s Southern League Division 1 South playoff winners Sholing F.C visit Bolitho. The quick turnaround may well benefit the squad – after two defeats on the bounce, they will be more motivated than ever to get points on the board.

Sholing are coming off the back of an impressive 3-1 victory against Winchester City on Saturday and are sitting midtable albeit after just two games. The only way is up for bottom of the table Parkway, who even after defeat on Saturday, put in a better performance against Boro than they managed on the opening day.

The Yellows will be without their captain Ryan Lane as he continues to serve a suspension. Joe Belsten is still out with an injury along with Alex Cairo and Henry Wilson.

The key will be composure if Parkway are to get back to winning ways on Tuesday, and they will need to put the losses firmly behind them. It is certainly too early to panic as there is plenty of time for this talented squad to turn things around.

Parkway did the double over The Boatmen back in the 21/22 season when The Yellows went up as champions of the Southern League Division 1 South. They won 2-0 at The Imperial Homes Stadium before recording a 4-1 victory only a few weeks later at Bolitho.
