Parkway look ahead to a big weekend at Bolitho
Parkway v Chesham United | Match PreviewBy Alex Haynes
Football has been scarce of late for Plymouth Parkway due to the poor weather conditions, so a match at home to Chesham United this Saturday will be a welcome return to action.
Just as the Yellows found some form, multiple matches were postponed. It can be a tough time of year for non-league footballers especially when trying to stay match fit. The squad would have been eager to keep the momentum going after a 1-0 win against Bracknell Town on the 25th of November, but the season was once again put on hold.
Even though the win against Bracknell was Parkway’s third successive victory in all competitions, the lack of games has led to a fall back into the relegation zone. This comes with a silver lining though as we have four games in hand over Hanwell Town who are two points ahead of Parkway and occupy 18th place at the time of writing.
Our next opponents Chesham United are top of the league and are unbeaten in five games with four wins and a draw. Their last defeat came against the Bracknell Town who put four goals past the Generals in November.
All the way back in August, Parkway were narrowly beaten 4-3 by Chesham. It proved to be the beginning of a resurgence by the Yellows as results began to improve after this defeat. Parkway will be confident of taking all three points against the league leaders this time in what should be another close and exciting encounter.
In the last campaign, the two teams drew 2-2 at Bolitho. In the reverse fixture Chesham enjoyed a comprehensive 4-0 win.
