Parkway Back Out On The Road
Yate Town vs Parkway | Match PreviewBy Jack Hobbs
Following Tuesday’s disappointment on the road, Plymouth Parkway are looking to bounce back against a struggling Yate Town on Saturday.
The Yellows missed out on three points on Tuesday, losing 3-2 away at Wimborne Town despite having led the game twice, which means Chris McPhee’s side have picked up just two points from a possible nine in their last three games.
Parkway defender Jack Veale has been in the thick of the action since his arrival from Welsh side Cardiff Metropolitan in the summer.

Speaking on both the teams and his own start to the season, Veale said: “I think as a squad and individually, we’ve had a slow start.”
“I think now, although we’re not quite there yet, we’re coming out the back of it after a few good performances and we’re looking to push on from here really.
“I’ve played in this league before, but I think the team that I was at last year, we played quite a different style to Parkway. Obviously, there was a little bit of a teething period for me but hopefully that’s seems to have gone now and we can really click on.”

Speaking on Tuesday’s narrow defeat and controversies, Veale said: “It was one of those games where it didn’t really feel like we were there to lose.”
“I said to the boys afterwards, it’s one of those things when you’re flying, you’re doing well, you sort of hold on to those games but at the minute and the way we’ve started the season, we’re just falling on the wrong side of those little percentages.
“Hopefully we can get on the right side of those and start holding on for some wins.
“I don’t really like to blame the referees, and I didn’t personally see it, but the boys are adamant (it was the wrong decision to send him off).
“Some boys are saying it hit his hand which was next to his body, and some are saying that it didn’t hit his hand at all.
“I don’t think the referee was 100% sure and I think as a referee, if you’re not 100% you can’t give it something like that, because it completely changed the course of the game.
“It wasn’t great but then if we’re being really, really picky, maybe we should have been 1-3 up at the time, and it doesn’t have as big an impact on the game.”
With newly promoted Yate Town sat in 21st, three places behind Parkway in 19th, Saturday presents a real opportunity for McPhee’s side to gain their first three points away from home this season.
With fans seeing this as a “must win game”, Veale said: “think it’s early in the season to be chucking around the must win phrase, but we’re confident.
“We’ve had two and a half really good games, the second half of Dorchester game and the last two away games, we’ve felt we’ve done really well.
“We’ve executed our game plan and we’re unlucky not to come with more points than we have.
“I think we’re taking quite a bit of confidence into Saturday and without saying it’s a must win, we’re looking at as a good chance to pick up some points and really kick on from the last two games.”
