Parkway eye another step forward with Uxbridge in town
Parkway v Uxbridge | Match PreviewBy Mike Parrish
After last weekend’s hard-earned win over Evesham United, Parkway stay at Bolitho Park this Saturday with Uxbridge the next visitors to the Theatre of Trees.
The Yellows have settled into a confident stride of late, seven unbeaten in all competitions, and will again need to be at their very best against an Uxbridge side who’ve proved stubborn opposition for most this season.
Chris McPhee’s team showed a different side to themselves in that Evesham victory. It wasn’t flashy, but it was professional. An early Rocky Neal header, a solid defensive shift, and a job well done. With back-to-back home fixtures on the calendar, the focus now is on turning a good run into a genuine platform for the months ahead. The Theatre of Trees has quietly become a tough place for visiting sides, and Parkway will look to make that count again this weekend.
Captain Rio Garside returns from suspension and there’ll be a late decision on defender Taylor Scarff, who continues his recovery from the knock picked up against Poole Town.
Elsewhere, the squad remains largely settled. The experience of Ryan Brett and the composure of Mikey Williams were key last time out, while Mack Allan and the back line continue to impress as the clean-sheet tally builds.
Saturday’s visitors make the long trip from west London sitting fourth in the table after 14 games. It’s been a strong start to Step 3 football following last season’s promotion, and they’ve quickly earned a reputation for being difficult to beat. Only one defeat all season, a 3-0 away loss at Sholing, backs up their resilience.
On the road, Uxbridge’s record reads played seven, won one, drawn five, lost one. That tells its own story: organised, patient, and rarely far from a result. Their only away win came at Evesham, while recent draws against the likes of Havant, Tiverton, and Bracknell show they can compete well on the road. They arrive buoyed by a dramatic 4-3 home win over Gloucester last time out, sealed by a 94th-minute strike from Adanioritsewo Okorogheye.
There’s plenty of threat across their front line. Bagname Keita has hit five in his last five outings, Nnamdi Nwachuku offers experience and power with six goals to his name, and Liam Prior-Tack adds creativity from midfield, often stepping up from the penalty spot. Parkway will need to stay focused across the back, particularly against a side that tends to finish games strongly.
This will be the first-ever meeting between the clubs, but both arrive in decent nick. Parkway’s recent home form speaks for itself, while Uxbridge’s ability to grind out draws on the road means small margins could decide it.
McPhee’s men will look to start on the front foot, as they did against Evesham, and build the kind of control that has served them well at Bolitho in recent weeks.
For the Yellows, it’s another test of progress and consistency. The crowd at Bolitho have played their part through this mini-unbeaten spell, and they’ll be out again in force to lift the side ahead of next weekend’s FA Trophy clash with Salisbury. If Parkway can marry the discipline shown last time out with the attacking fluency that’s flickered through the season, there’s every chance the home run stretches a little longer yet.
Ahead of kick-off, Supporters are asked to join a minute’s silence before kick-off as we mark Remembrance Weekend. We also take this time to remember members of our own community and the wider football family who have sadly passed away.
