Wimborne Town vs Parkway Match ReportPlymouth Parkway were on the wrong side of a refereeing blunder from Nicholas Whittingham on Tuesday night as Wimborne Town came from behind to seal a 3-2 win against The Yellows.
Chris McPhee’ side had found themselves leading twice through a strong strike from Taylor Scarff and a well worked finish from Tylor Love-Holmes, but a red card for Scarff and subsequent penalty in the 80th minute for “handball”, swung the tide in The Magpies favour.

The home side started on the front foot and tested the waters within the first five minutes with Alex Sampaio-Borges sending a low shot from outside the box past Mack Allan’s right post.
However, despite Wimborne’s early start, it was Parkway who took the lead against the run of play 12 minutes in.
After James Watts-Barciela was fouled on the counter, Rio Garside clipped a great ball into the back post which was headed down on the edge of the area for Scarff to pick his spot and convert into the bottom right corner.
Yet after going in front, Parkway seemed to back off which allowed Wimborne to get their foot back into the game.

Lewis Williams picked up the ball on the left wing and was allowed to drive at Jensen Ireland before cutting in on his right and bending a great strike into the far-right corner past Allan to make it 1-1 on the 20-minute mark.
The next 20 minutes consisted of several half chances from both sides but it was Wimborne who looked the slightly stronger outfit. Yet once more, against the run of play, Parkway retook the lead through a moment of brilliance from Tylor Love-Holmes.
The Truro City loanee broke into the box, rounded Cameron Plain with a neat ball roll and then passed the into the net with four minutes of the half remaining.
Originally, it had looked as if the 20-year-old’s effort had been clear off the line by a Wimborne defender which was then subsequently smashed home by Watts-Barciela, but confirmation since has ensured the goal was awarded to Love-Holmes – making it his third goal in as many games.
Parkway started the second half brightly and came close to extending their lead through Love-Holmes, who attacked a back-stick corner from Rio Garside and forced Plain into a great fingertip save.
As the second half continued, Wimborne grew in confidence and in turn, Parkway sat further back.
Sam Jackson’s deflected strike from outside the box curled inches wide of the near post and Josh Carmichael forced Allan into a brilliant top corner save to deny his strong curling effort from distance.

Watts-Barciela then had the chance to once again extend Parkway’s lead to 1-3 as the winger drove his way past three Wimborne defenders and forced Plain into a good stop with his feet on the edge of the box.
Wimborne’s pressure finally paid off with just ten minutes to go when referee Nicholas Whittingham pointed to the spot and brandished the red card at Scarff for an alleged handball
In such a crowded box and with the ball striking Scarff’s shoulder from such close proximity, the referee’s superhuman ability to seed through solid objects is a miracle of modern science…
Freshly substituted Will Smith stepped up and levelled the scores, sending Allan the wrong way to make it 2-2 with ten to play.
Things then got worse for The Yellows as one point became none as Joe Smith found time to fire a strong effort into the bottom left corner with five minutes remaining.
In extraordinary circumstances, Parkway almost clawed a point from despair as Jack Veale met a cross at the back post, but his header was tipped agonisingly onto the post by Plain.
The result ends Parkway’s mini unbeaten run but results around the table have meant The Yellows are out of the relegation zone ahead of Saturday’s trip to Yate Town.
