A VIEW FROM THE MILL

Pre-Season is always a stop start period with players and management understanding the new environment as Parkway prepare for life in the Southern Premier League South.

After a fine defensive display in their first pre-season outing against Plymouth Argyle, they would be the dominant attacking force for the majority of the 90 minutes at the Mill.

An early goal by Rio Garside would see Parkway take the lead and for the next 15 minutes continued to enjoy the majority of the ball but couldn’t make their dominance count with a second goal.

Much like Parkway last week, Torpoint displayed a good defensive shape and kept the away sides chances to a minimum whilst also causing Parkway problems themselves. Curtis Damerall almost levelling the score only for Kyle Moore to save smartly at his near post.

In humid conditions, the game was played at a good tempo but a drinks break and breaks in play would disrupt the rhythm of the game.

Torpoint would find themselves level before the break through former Parkway favourite Sam Hilson who was left unmarked at the back post to nod home.

Parkway reasserted their dominance in the second half but failed to break down the Windmills defensive unit. A host of changes would be made by both sides throughout the 2nd half as the game continued to be disjointed and interrupted for large periods. Ben Seymour, Austen Booth and Dan Rooney would enter proceedings in the second half but despite the majority of possession, Parkway could not find a way past Torpoint as the game faded out as the humidity grew.

There would be more questions than answers as Parkway left the field but it would be another important 90mins in the legs for the squad who have now been back at pre-season for two weeks.

Their pre-season roadshow continues next weekend as they head way out west to face Mousehole, who themselves enjoyed a superb 4-2 away win at Langsford Park on Saturday afternoon.

It will be another good test for the class of 22/23 as Parkway move into their third week of pre-season
