Plymouth Parkway Appoint Mike Parrish as Head of Operations
Parkway build for the futureBy Plymouth Parkway Media
Plymouth Parkway Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Parrish as the club’s first-ever Head of Operations, a move that signals a significant step forward in the continued development of the football club.
Over the past seven years, Plymouth Parkway have experienced rapid growth on the pitch, securing promotion from the South West Peninsula League to Step 3 of the football pyramid and competing in the Southern League Premier South.
This progress has been matched off the pitch, with the development of a new clubhouse and improved facilities, alongside a growing recognition that the club now requires a full-time operational role to support its future ambitions.
Chairman Mark Russell highlighted the importance of the appointment: “The building blocks are in place, and the club has made huge strides over the past few years. Now is the perfect time to build on the hard work that has already taken place.
We were overwhelmed by the interest in the role when it was advertised earlier this season, but after careful consideration, we believe Mike is the perfect candidate. He understands the football club, its DNA, and has the ability to connect all areas of the club as we continue to move forward.”
The newly created role will focus on overseeing key areas across the club, including commercial development, media and communications, community initiatives, and enhancing the overall matchday and supporter experience.
Interim Manager Stuart Dudley welcomed the appointment as a positive step for the club: “This won’t just be a job for Mike, it will be a project that brings out his passion and makes full use of his skills.
It’s another important move from the board to ensure we remain sustainable and give the team on the pitch the best possible chance to thrive. Any young player with ambition will see the opportunities being created here and understand that there is a clear pathway into high-level football supported by strong environments both on and off the pitch.”
Vice Chairman Gez Baggott also underlined the importance of the position: “This is a role the club needs as we continue to grow. The number of applicants showed just how important this position is, not only within Plymouth but across the South West. I believe Mike is extremely capable of fulfilling the role, and he will have the full backing of everyone at the club to ensure its success.”
Parrish officially began the role at the end of March and is already preparing for what promises to be a busy off-season.
Speaking on his appointment, Parrish said: “If you could design a dream role, this would be it. After an eight-year apprenticeship with the club, alongside my studies and professional experience in marketing, I feel the timing is right to take on this challenge.
I’m under no illusions about the scale of the role, but I’m fortunate to be surrounded by a fantastic group of directors and staff who are committed to the club’s future. This isn’t about me, it’s about Plymouth Parkway Football Club. We are still developing, but we have a strong story behind us, and I firmly believe the best chapters are still to come. The off-season will be extremely busy, and I’m excited to get started.”
