There was just one change in the Parkway XI, with Ryan Brett coming in for Jensen Ireland who dropped to the bench.

Weymouth dominated the opening minutes and were rewarded for their sharp aggressive start when Carson fired past Mack Allan into the bottom right corner to give The Terras the lead within nine minutes.

Thanks to the early pressure from Weymouth, Parkway were struggling to find their rhythm and were frequently disconnected in their attempts to find one another.

Things could have got worse for the home side when Brandon Goodship threw himself to the ground in the area after 18 minutes, searching for a penalty, but thankfully referee Bailey Walker saw sense and booked Goodship simulation.

From this moment, Parkway began to build their way back.

Callum Hall had the first home shot of the game, attempting to find the top corner after a blocked header from James Watts-Barciela, but his effort soared over the bar.

Ten minutes later, Rocky had his first sniff at goal, cutting in off the right onto his left, searching for the far-left corner but his blocked effort fell to the feet of hall whose resulting shot deflected into Ben Clark’s grateful arms.

On the cusp of halftime captain Rio Garside came inches away from clawing his side level with a superb freekick.

15 yards out on the far right-hand side, he caught Clark off-guard with a quick shot which seemed destined for the top right corner, only to clip off the post and behind for a goal-kick.

The momentum carried with Parkway into the second half with an early chance falling to Mikey Williams. A great through ball from Carlo Garside allowed Rocky space to drag a shot across into Williams’ path, but Parkway’s Wizard was unable to poke his effort on target.

Parkway’s pressure was then ground to an abrupt halt.

Watts-Barciela, who had been an attacking spark and a huge thorn in Weymouth’s backline, was brought down by a high and reckless challenge from Jake McCarthy and was forced into an early substitution in the 64th minute.

McCarthy miraculously escaped a red card and was subsequently substituted by Terras’ boss Warren Feeney.

It was this moment that dampened the comeback spark and after a few decent stops from Allen to deny Weymouth, they scored their second to kill the game off late on.

Tom Hewlett was allowed to drive down the right wing, cut in on his left and fire his shot past Allan into the top right corner five minutes from time.

Parkway had spells of dominance, but Weymouth rode the waves and took their chances when it mattered.

McPhee’s Yellows are back at Bolitho this Saturday, welcoming Gloucester City, as we attempt to secure out first points of the season.
