Parkway made a sharp start and could have gone ahead in the 3rd minute. Garside won the ball in midfield and released Crago who went clear unchallenged only to shoot straight at Jameson Horlick who saved well.

Parkway continued to threaten and on 5 minutes a cross from the left by Down saw a header saved with Tom Purrington shooting the recycled ball from just outside the 18-yard forcing another good save from Horlick. Crago then shot wide from another Parkway break as they continued to look the sharper side. Dorchester responded on 9 minutes with Drew Eccott-Young going clear along the right and setting up Olaf Koszela whose shot from around 20 yards was finger tipped over by Parkes.

Parkway continued to play at a high tempo and with intensity with Alex Cairo surging forward on 11 minutes and shooting from around 15 yards forcing another save from Horlick. Parkway continued to dominate the early exchanges moving the ball at pace and creating opportunities with Thomson showing good close control to work an opening with his shot being well saved by Horlick.

The hosts gradually began to get to the pace of the game and on 18 minutes a cross from the left was well gathered by Parkes with Jack Dickson then seeing his long range effort deflected for a corner from which Ed James headed narrowly wide. On 27 minutes Callum Rose became the first player cautioned after a strong challenge in midfield, the caution subsequently to be the first of many more later in the game.

Play now became more even with both sides using the wide areas to good effect and on 31 minutes a smart passage of play along the right saw the cross headed clear with the ball falling kindly for Purrington whose volley from around 12 yards went straight into the arms of Horlick.

With the hosts now looking the more dangerous and Parkway conceding possession too easily in midfield, on 33 minutes a cross from the right by Koszela picked out Eccott-Young whose angled drive was tipped past the post by Parkes at full stretch. Play continued to switch from end to end with Rose doing well to recycle a loose ball on 35 minutes and force a corner which was well defended.

On 39 minutes Will Fletcher saw his shot from around 15 yards blocked forcing a corner which came to nothing with the half remaining goalless after the 2 added minutes.

A fairly even half with Parkway starting the better and creating but failing to convert 3 early chances. Dorchester gradually worked their way back into the game in the last 15 minutes creating their own chances but it remained all square at the break.

The second half started in dramatic fashion with Shane White being sent off in the 47th minute. A strong challenge on Marcus Daws midway in the Parkway half was seen as worthy of a yellow card by the referee with White’s subsequent remarks made to the official resulting in an immediate second yellow for dissent.

This forced Parkway to reorganise and regroup by packing the midfield, defending deeper and narrower and looking to play on the counter with Crago left as the lone attacker. On 49 minutes Cairo broke forward on the right with his cross being well gathered by Horlick.

Purrington then saw yellow after an innocuous looking challenge in midfield as the hosts began to impose themselves on the game and dominate possession and territory. On 58 minutes Will Spetch headed just over from a corner shortly before being replaced by Ieuan Turner.

Koszela then saw yellow for the hosts as they continued to apply pressure but still unable to break down the resilient Parkway defence.

On the hour the increasingly influential Dickson made a strong run from deep with his shot being deflected for a corner which was cleanly gathered by Parkes through a crowded 6 yard area. The hosts continued to dominate, winning a number of second balls and on 62 minutes forced another corner which was cleared under pressure.

With Parkway content to absorb pressure showing little attacking intention, Jones replaced the hard working Crago on 64 minutes. The dangerous Daws playing wide on the left fired in a cross which flashed narrowly wide on 67 minutes as the hosts pressure increased.

Dorchester made their second change on 74 minutes with Eccott-Young being replaced by striker Shaquille Gwengwe. Cairo then saw yellow for a foot up challenge as Parkway continued to absorb pressure, battle strongly in midfield and defend resolutely with Rose bravely throwing his body at a close range effort which went for a corner. On 76 minutes a rare Parkway foray forward saw Garside link with Jones with the young striker being crowded out by 3 defenders.

Dorchester continued to threaten but too often their final ball lacked quality or variation allowing the Parkway defence, backed up by Parkes’ assured handling of crosses, to remain strong and compact. On 79 minutes Parkes did well to save low down from a powerful close range header as Dorchester continued to press but still lacked the cutting edge in the final third.

A series of corners were well dealt with by Parkway as they continued to defend in numbers with Dickson the next to be cautioned for a foul in midfield. On 83 minutes Dorchester created a good chance with Koszela releasing Gwengwe along the right who fired into the side netting from a tight angle.

The hosts made their final change on 85 minutes with Luke Roberts replacing Spetch. With Dorchester continuing to dominate the possession and Parkway looking to hang on, slow the game down and manage it to it’s conclusion, Parkes was cautioned for delaying taking a goal kick with a member of the Parkway coaching staff also receiving a yellow card presumably for attempting to delay play further.

Dorchester thought they had taken the lead on 89 minutes with Gwengwe bundling the ball home but play had already been halted for a foul on Parkes after a corner had dropped into the congested 6 yard box.

Approaching added time Garside was booked as the Parkway goal continued to bear a charmed life. Looking to break up play and slow the game down, Parkway sent on Wright to replace Garside in the second of 5 added minutes. In the 94th minute the final action saw Parkes make a huge and surely game saving block from Gwengwe with the final whistle sounding shortly after.

After a lively start from Parkway, the first half developed into an even affair with both defences generally remaining on top and neither side able to create too many chances. The early sending off in second half changed the complexion of the game with Parkway being forced to alter their game plan. Despite numerous stoppages in play for seemingly minor infringements or otherwise,

Dorchester dominated in their attacking third with the Parkway defence, superbly marshalled by man of the match Rose alongside the impressive Down, showing resilience and resolve to keep a second successive clean sheet and gain a hard fought but deserved point which extends their unbeaten league run to 9.

Parkway remain in 14th place now 5 points clear of the drop zone but still with games in hand on teams immediately above and below them. Their busy schedule continues with 17th placed Beaconsfield Town facing the long midweek journey to Bolitho Park on Tuesday. Beaconsfield arrive off the back of a 3 match unbeaten run after a 3-0 win over Bracknell Town today after 2 eye catching results drawing 0-0 at home with Salisbury and a 3-2 away win at Merthyr Town who sit 2nd and 3rd respectively. A touch challenge is expected.
